“I was born into a Catholic Family and am a fourth generation Catholic at St. Joseph Church in Shelton. Growing up, my parents always made sure that I attended Mass every Sunday and received my sacraments. Every Sunday, we attended the 9:00 Mass, which featured the Contemporary Folk Choir. As an active child in the pews, I knew that I didn’t just want to sit through Mass, I wanted to participate. I eventually became an Altar Server in the fifth grade and joined the Contemporary Choir in high school. In addition, I joined the youth group, and went on retreats, where I experienced God’s presence with other teens. By the time I was a young adult, our parish’s young adult ministry had mobilized and I joined the St. Joseph Young Adult Group, where I currently serve as secretary. In addition, I sing with the teen/young adult choir, where I’ve had the opportunity to cantor at some of the 5:00 Masses. I’m also a part of the larger parish Combined Choir that assembles for holidays and other special Masses. Although I’ve had my challenges in life, I always knew that God had my back and to never lose sight of the fact that He has a plan for me. Being a part of the programs at my parish has truly shaped my life spiritually, emotionally, and socially. I couldn’t imagine my life any other way. I trust in God and His plan for the future.”
